  1. I love the Old Testament ties to the first 5 chapters of Matthew.

"Jesus" is the Greek form of "Joshua" which means "God Saves"
Jesus early trip to Egypt signifying the birth of the Jewish nation in Egypt.
Jesus baptism in the Jordan signifying the Jews crossing of the Red Sea & the Jordan entering the Promised Land.
Jesus going into the Wilderness for 40 days to signify the Israelites 40 years in the Wilderness.
The 1st temptation of hunger signifying one of the Israelites first temptations after leaving Egypt..
The 2nd temptation of comfort or lack thereof that God didn't provide.
The 3rd temptation of idol worship (Satan/golden calf)
Jesus passes all the tests thrown at Him. It really brings Matthew 5:17-18 to life! Thank God!!!
